Need help on rifle build. 300WSM vs 300 PRC

Hey guy, I’m starting the process for a new light weight mountain rifle. Have a lilja carbon fiber barrel, going with a lone peak TI action short or long depending on caliber. I’ve gone back and forth on caliber and need some input. I have a 7WSM that I love and a 6.5-270WSM. Would I be crazy to build a 300wsm over a PRC?

I think the 7wsm is a criminally underrated cartridge, and don’t see the point of a 300wsm in your case. Those two cartridges cover the same base to me, and you have the overall superior one already (IMHO).

I personally would make the jump to 300 PRC for the increased long range performance w/ bigger bullets, and since there wouldn’t be the overlap with a gun you already have and love.

Big .30 caliber fanboy here. Of those two for me it's going to be the WSM all the way. Don't like to change barrels once that I get it dialed in and have seen several PRCs shot out after just 600 - 770 rounds.

If you’re trying to shoot to a range where you have an advantage over the 7 WSM you already have the. I’d go 300 PRC for sure. With ADG brass and N570 and 245s you’re in the 2900s with 230s. You’re not going to get past the mid 2700s in any bullet that beats a 7mm BC.
