Need a Elk hunt!

I am planning on an OTC Utah hunt focused on the Zion region. However, with the fire up there i am having second thoughts. Although I know the area some what for Deer, never really hunted the area for elk and it is big unit and lots of private.

I am open suggestions, must be OTC or landowner. I have the last week August and the last 10 days of September earmarked. Not sure if Colorado, Idaho or New Mexico might be better options.

Just looking for some thoughts for you all.

Colorado maybe but the season ends there on the 24th I believe.

Idaho OTC Elk can start in August for cows and run up to the end of September depending on which zone you go with. Pioneer zone maybe a good one to look at.
