In my research, I found information stating that the old N150 was temperature sensitive while the new N150 (changed many years ago) is supposed to be temperature stable.

The below test data is not conclusive due to small sample size, but I believe it’s a good indicator of what to expect. For me this works just fine in a hunting situation even at long distances.

Test:

10- 223 rounds loaded with a near max charge of N150 and 77 TMK. Loaded at the same time, same lot of virgin brass and powder

5 were placed in the freezer at -6 degree Fahrenheit for 48 + hours. Other 5 were left at room temp, approx 65 degrees

Frozen rounds were transported (10 minutes) in a cooler and shot first, then the 5 at room temp shot. Velocity measured with Labrador, no errors

Frozen avg velocity: 2732 - ES:58,SD:20

Room temp avg velocity: 2710 - ES:47,SD:21

Grouping at 100 yards was consistent with what I’ve seen when shooting all 10 at room temp. Orange dot is approx 1”
