Anyone order from mytrailco.com yet? I am thinking about getting a Pyramid 3 from them. It was a toss up between them and the BT2 but price wise I think I gotta go with the MTC P3, $50 more but I get the pole nest and mid guy outs.

These are the same people who started GoLite, which folded because of retail space debt, but was hugely successful and made great products. They filed for bankruptcy, liquidated assets, paid off creditors, but purchased the designs and patents of their most successful gear, and relaunched under a new name. The tent you're looking at is basically an updated Shangri-la. If it is anything like the old one, I bet it will be great.

Right on, I know the history I was just wondering if anyone had ordered and how any of the "improvements" were.

A reason you aren't getting the 4 other than cost? If using just the fly (which is how I used my SL-5 90% of the time and this has the exact same specs as does the Pryamid 3 and the SL-3). The difference in weight of the fly between the pyramid 3 and pyramid 4 is only 5 oz if you use a trekking pole and have the same amount of stakes roughly. Once I realized this I quickly sold my SL 3 and when with the SL 5 for everything even solo to having 4 of us go on a trip.

When you get 60% more space over something that weighs only 15% less its kind of a no brainer in that regard. That and you have the ability to easily sleep 4 folks in one and really the Pryamid three is really a 2 person shelter at best all for a 5 oz difference.

Price, weight, size packed and footprint set up are all reasons. I really didn't like the zipper in the corner of the sl5 that I had and sold. I am going to be doing more solo or at least sleeping solo so the extra room isn't near as important. It is bigger than some alternatives that I had been looking at with the bearpaw lair and zpacks heximid.
