Being from Nebraska, and now in the big 10 conference, we have "postponed" (read cancelled) fall sports this year. The big 10 did so with a good dose of Bi polar disorder, releasing a 10 game conference only scheduled on live TV and making a big deal about how they had planned for a safe season. . . Only to cancel , woops postpone, the season 6 days later with little to no explanation.

Now there were some theatrics that got blown up by national sports media as well as by Nebraska news media, but overall there is little to no info on why we are postponing or how we think spring is a better time to play and will be safer.

So the question to my former Big 12 brethren, those of you in the ACC, and that other league ;) (the one that keeps winning championships) is, what are your schools/conferences saying about the season? Does it seem like they will go through with it or does it seem like you are just waiting for them to cancel? It's a messed up year for sure but having our conference leadership staying quiet doesn't help a lot!

Just looking for thoughts and opinions from those that are still planning to play, and pissing and moaning is also allowed from those in the B1G and Pac 12!

My wife is from Omaha, so I have wasted many fall Saturdays watching the Huskers try to play something resembling football. This news is music to my ears!

Just joking around (kinda). I do wish they would be better so there would actually be something to do when we visit every year in late fall. But I really am looking forward to getting the family out of the house more this fall because of this news!

I really do not see how ANY school will be able to play all sports in the spring. Is it just to keep enrollment up so they can cancel all spring sports?

Just cancel all college sports until further notice...and this coming from a dad who’s daughter is a softball player in her senior year in Durango Colorado. Oh and do not grant extra years for these kids, it will only ruin the chances for the younger kids .

You and me both! Turns out firing 9 win coaches isn't the best idea. . . Who would have thought! While I love Nebraska football I'm a realist and understand that we have fallen very far, and may never recover. . . I would like to atleast be competitive again within our conference. . .

Rest of conferences are going to play. B1G will look like even bigger idiots in a month.

There will be no " spring season.". That is just window dressing to try to prevent mass exodus of players into the transfer portal and prevent teams from doing things on their own. Had they cancelled the season rather than postpone the season the conference couldn't prevent teams from playing.

Say safety is reason for postponing and then have kids play two football seasons at that level in 7 mos?

This is purely political.

Big XII says they’re playing fall sports, conference schedule only and pushed back start date (late Sept).

This issue is SO layered - kids and coaches want to play. After Dedicating most of their Lives to them - why wouldn’t they?

Schools will scream about the danger of spread and as case counts rise due to kids back on campus they will cry and start to pressure the ADs to reassess.

I think there are many that do not want life to get back to normal - whether for fear of the virus or for more nefarious and political reasons; so I think it is still a slim outside chance that these games get played. I wish they would - I have a daughter playing Big XII soccer.

I feel bad for the players. They are being denied the opportunity to "interview" for a career that could change the course of their life and their family.

Between Covid, concussion, and controversy, the NFL is essentially dead. These kids need to spend more time in class getting ready for a business career. And at the same time, the car, beer, and chicken wing companies need to find a different spectacle during which to pimp their wares.

I will take that bet. The nfl will be just fine.

Lost Revenue

The economic impact of no college football will feel like a small earthquake. More small businesses that are built around the college football season will go under.

The schools in the Power 5 have built giant money making machines around growing tuition and sports. Will be interesting to see how the college bubble looks when they start losing large chunks of cash.
