New to this forum, so hello . Need to vent. Purchased a new Barrett Fieldcraft 21" 308 May of this year . After taking my time breaking in the barrel , ever 5 shot clean routine, I start my load development . This gun seems to shoot Berger VLD 168 hunting , 43 gr. Varget .20 off the lands. at least at 100 yards. Not getting it too hot, usually 5 shot groups when I develop a load. So she is warm.
Move out to 200 yards sticking with above load. now getting a little heated. groups open to 5" . barrel lifts off right side of stock enough that I can fit a dollar folded . But only the right side.
Called Barrett. by the serial they can tell you what the gun shot when it left the factory.load and group size. So with this new information ,My gun from Barrett shot best 178 grain Laupa ammo 1-10 twist makes sense.
I buy 180 grain Sierra. 178 ELD, 185 Bergers, off to the range. This gun wont shoot 200 yards let alone 500.
Call Barrett. They want the gun back. I sent it back, 2 weeks go by , nothing. I call service understands my frustration. 3 weeks, nothing 4 weeks nothing.
WTH. I have owned this gun for 90 days and Barrett has had it back for better than 30 now. And I can't get a call back on what going on. I read threads about there glowing service. What are they backed up with bad guns? I don't get it. Man.Sometimes I think if there is 1 lemon out there I will get it. Sorry had to vent.

Sorry to hear that. I would have asked about the possibility of a bad scope, but the stock shouldn't warp against the barrel on one side. Fieldcraft is one of the new "pretenders" to the Ultra Light Arms throne. Each of them has found that is isn't easy to duplicate, let alone better, what Melvin Forbes has been doing for 35 years. I hope Barrett gets your issue worked out, and before your hunt.

As information, no it isn’t a backlog of returned guns. It’s that they just won a couple of large military contracts and are neck deep in it.

It sucks that you have had to wait, but they will get it taken care of. Have seen more than a dozen FC‘s and all have been excellent.

They will take care of you as Form said. I had one that the CBS would be around 1 MOA higher than the following rounds. Swapped scopes, and checked multiple times to be sure it wasn't me. They had me send it in on their dime. They had it about two months and couldn't figure out why it was doing that and gave me a new rifle. Obviously I am a fan of their customer service. Super company IMO.

Floated barrel? Doesn't Mr. Forbes full length bed because of that sort of thing?

2 months Jim maybe it's me. But 2 months does not seem like great customer service to me. We all work hard for our dollar, and believe me this Fieldcraft was earned. IMO weather it's my firearm or another , it should not take 60 days to make a determination . Believe me my story is a lot deeper than written above. That's the condense version. I don't understand how getting a new rifle is great ? Isn't that what I have purchased in May of this year? But My nuts are in a knot right now. I just don't understand why they don't get back to me. I don't care how many contacts they have. I buy guns. And to me this gun was big money.
