Ladies and Gentlemen,

Thanks to all of you who unknowingly contributed to my elk hunt this year. I read a ton of great info on this forum, got a lot of my gear here in the classifieds, and was able to pull off a DIY OTC elk hunt in Colorado last week that I had planned for 9 months.

Cool website and journey documentation. You are well on your way to success. Did you hunt alone? I have found that the learning curve for a brand new elk hunter is very steep, esp solo. Good luck in your return endeavors!

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I hunted alone. Had a buddy with me at camp fly fishing as standby in case I needed help carrying something out or to call search and rescue if I didn't show up for two days...

I was thinking next time I go out I may try to find a more experienced solo hunter and ask to tag along. I am sure I would learn a decade's worth of info in a few days on techniques, calling, noticing sign, etc.

I wish I were back there now hunting elk as I sit in my deer stand for sure. Whitetail hunting is fun but not like elk in the Rockies.

Thanks, brother. I appreciate it. Wanted to try to answer a lot of questions I hear people ask here that I attempted to figure out in the past year.
