Just bought eastons deep six FMJ's and looking at the muzzy trocars. I currently shoot G5 heads but they don't have any deep six heads. Does anybody have any experience with the trocars or can recommend another head in that price range? Thanks

I used the muzzy's to sight in and are in my quiver. never killed anything with them but , they seem like one and done heads because the allen screws to replace the blades are very hard to tighten once you try n replace them. These flew great though , very close to my field points. Standard thread not deep 6 for me but assume they will fly the same . Ive had success with QAD Exodus and believe they come in D6

I killed a moose with the standard thread version, and was not entirely happy with their performance. The blades were dull - and I mean dull - upon recovery. I had to shoot the bull against ~45 minutes later because the first shot through the lungs didn't do the trick. My assessment is that the thick hair dulled the blades due to the acute angle. They are probably fine on lighter skinned game, but I wouldn't recommend them as an all-around head.

I got a cow elk with the deep six version this year and they did the job. Didn't honestly look for blood as she fell in sight. Flew great and did what it was designed to do. Good head but i have heard wac'em came out with a deep six head this year do that is what i will be shooting!!

I shoot the slick trick 4-blade and it flies great and performs exceptional. Shoots to the same point of impact as field points and leaves massive blood trails.

I have not used the Muzzy heads but have used some others. The Grave Digger is a great mech. It flies well and does a lot of damage. The Ram Cat is the head I have used most and like it a lot. The heads flies great and its straight carnage. I have really like the Deep 6 so far and have no plans on changing anytime soon.

I really wanted to like these as well because of the similarity to the old Rocky Mountain Blitz, they flew really well, not sure if it was the slight helical or what. Ferrules were really strong but like was mentioned above those little screws are hard to get out, got the little allen wrench and it would get rounded easily, filed it down and same thing, so have heads that I can't replace the blades on now. Did shoot a mulie with them and they did a lot of damage.

I'm shooting Magnus Black Hornets now but not sure if they have Deep Six versions, good luck on your search.

I really don't like trocars, and I haven't used them in deep six but I would be even more leery of them with the deep sixes skinny weak ferrule .

The screws used on them to retain the blades are junk, they strip out and get gummed up too easy. I have also seen them not spin worth a shit after a solid impact, with obvious wobble to the ferrule. A couple of early season deer killed with them was enough for me to dump them ....that said when they are new and properly aligned they really do tune and fly well.

Thanks for all the feedback, I'll check out some other options y'all mentioned. This setup will be for next years elk season.

Previous post is blood trail of 2014 elk with the deep six arrows & 4-blade slick trick. Twenty yard shot - elk made it 50-70 yards. No problems following blood trail on this one.

I went with a completely different head. Didn't like the Muzzys. Bought the QAD Exodus instead. Already sighted in they completely blow through my block target. Only 4 days of deer season left down here in Texas so I might get to try it out on a live target

Great choice these were extremely effective for me on a hog. Only reason i got rid of them was because i cut my arrows to short and the way the blades sit back on the shaft they were right over my hand
