Mule Deer Patterns

This will be the first season I invest any significant time into mule deer. I've had some luck in early archery seasons hunting elk by sitting water sources I patterned over the summer using game cameras. Has anyone applied a similar tactic to mulies? Since the archery permit is cheap I figure I could do this a few days during the first half of archery before we leave for the elk hunt. I have a game plan in mind already for the rifle end of the deer season if I don't succeed during archery. The area I have in mind is relatively dense timber. 8-9k elevation. Relatively dry.

I would keep in mind that once muley bucks shed their velvet they often totally change their patterns. Patterns can also change after the first significant snowstorm and with hunting pressure.
