Mule deer migration pattern

Do bucks or does migrate first? An old guy told me all the bucks migrate out of an area I hunt and the does hang around longer. To me this is wrong. I am new to this area but my belief is the bucks move off the hills he normally sees them on and into the timber. I don’t believe the deer will even move out without snow to make them leave. Are my assumptions correct?

NE Wyoming the older the buck the longer he stays before migrating. Big bucks are the last one to show up.
