Looking for your input.

Both of my daughters (12y & 13y) are enthusiastic about this. It will be a good time. Booked a crappy motel and everything!
Really focused on making this a fun and positive experience for them.

It will be our first time taking advantage of the Montana Youth hunt dates. Oct 17-18 2024 on Deer Combination licenses.

The plan is focusing on public land.

It will be their first time on the trigger. (However, they have been on hunts and we have plenty of whitetail and mule deer hunt experience in Canada, cold stuff). I figure by then we can get them competent with a rifle out to 250-300yds.

It would be really great if both could fill their tag.

At any rate, if you have pulled this off with your kids or are familiar with the unit I am interested in your thoughts.

Welcome. First tip we don't talk about units on the internet. Most would appreciate it if you edited your post. Second tip that area was hit hard and Deer numbers are way, way down.

Seems like editing the original post is impossible! (I don't have the "three little dots" available to do so).

It could be -10 or 70 degrees. Have them prepared to shoot from field positions.

If you’ve never been to where you’re going to hunt it will be tougher. Areas of eastern MT can be mentally tough with kind of ugly country and lot of it with few if any deer. If you don’t know where to go and find deer right away have fun things to do to keep them having fun.
