Anyone going to pick one up this week??

I'm debating getting one to replace my Jetboil Ti.. I'd like to know some real world weight numbers, like the system minus the feet.. Also how fast the boil time is.. How solid it feels?

I'd be interested in seeing the results from some hard backpack hunt use over the next season.

Dont see what the gain is.

It's subtle..

Virtually windproof, heats pot evenly, built in cup (really the main thing I don't like about my jetboil, I wish I could get it 100% inclusive.. I can fit a spork in there but no cup! That dinky "cup" the jetboil comes with just isn't big enough for my morning coffee).. My fins are getting kind of tired on my jetboil, maybe the MSRs will last a little longer and hold up better.. As far as a company, I prefer MSR to jetboil.. Made in USA vs. made in China.. Doesn't really matter but looks like the handle can actually be used unlike the jetboil..

Definitely a little more heavy, but 5-6 oz may be worth it..

If it holds up like the original Reactor it should do just fine! But ya, definitely need to put one through the ringer

Looks pretty sweet. Maybe a little bit more than the JetBoil but made in the USA would warrant the extra cash IMHO. May have to pick one up for next summer backpacking.

Windboiler is 1.0L and so is the Reactor. Reactor has a nice handle to hold. Looks like windboil has neoprene like jetboil so it burns your hands?? I love the fact my Reactor doesn't LOCK onto the burner. What was the purpose for this model?

If you're still interested, I have breakdown on my blog of every component of the Windboiler. See: MSR Windboiler – First Look

The fins on the Windboiler are way more solid than on the Jetboil Ti Sol. Downside is that it's heavier. Yes, it has a bigger pot, but it's still proportionally heavier. Pick your poison I suppose.

I've seen several Ti Jetboil Sols with fins that got crisped. I have not had that problem on aluminum pots. Here's a photo of a couple of Ti Sols with crisped fins. It does happen although if you're careful it shouldn't.

The larger pot on the left is a Primus pot with a perfectly good heat exchanger. The Primus pot is there just for comparative purposes.

Boil time per MSR is 2:30. I got a lot of 2:15 and 2:20 boils, but some of those were at up to 8,000' which is going to shorten the boil time.

It's VERY consistent in wind. If you want to see a Wind Test, I've got that on my blog as well. I've got a video of a Jetboil Sol and then a video of a Windboiler. The two videos were taken within a few minutes of each other. The difference is quite dramatic. Fun to watch if nothing else. See MSR Windboiler – Wind Testing
