If you leave the kayak behind you can catch salmon and steelhead off the west beaches of Whidby. Bit of a zoo but an entertaining zoo.

Tons of alpine lakes to fish too. I always bring a spinning rod on my alpine trips outside of hunting season.

If you’ve never had duginious (sp?) crab you’re in for a treat.

Great fishing and crabbing all around the island. You can beach cast for salmon on the right tides. Your kayak and or a little zodiac will help though. Forgot the names of the lakes but there’s one right by deception pass as well as a few on the south side near Clinton with public access. Take the ferry across to the peninsula and hit the alpine lakes in the olympics. Link up with your local rod and gun club, the one on the south end is very active.
