I seem to be on a never ending search for that perfect mid layer…well base + mid layer combo. My assumed conditions are 35-50f during the day and potentially down to single digits during the night, light wind in the low teens expected.
The montane fireball and lite look great and have a hood and fit that suits my needs better than the atom lt. The atom lt is too warm and not breathable for hiking with a pack on. If anyone has experience with montane fireball series or any of their apparel I would love to know your thoughts.
And in general I’m interested in what people are using for a base and mid layer. Typically I’ll wear a stretch hoody or long sleeve+qtr zip or stretch hoody as my next to skin base layers and then something like a rab xenair alpine lite if it’s a little chillier/if it gets windy. Rab doesn’t block wind great but it’s warm enough that the wind isn’t an issue. As you can see my layering isn’t thought out.
Thanks.
