Montana unit 560. Need help!

I’m heading to mt in mid September archery. Narrowed this unit down. And we will be packing in for multiple days. Just wondering if anyone has hunted that unit and can give me any tips. Or if we are wasting our time going there. Anything will help. Thanks

Anyone know what the wolf and grizzly situation is?

Never hunted it but I’m positive that the bottom half of 560 is loaded with grizzly that close to the park. Likely to have wolf as well

I hunt 560, private land. FS land get's hunted hard, and it is some very rugged terrain. Grizz are there, heck, they had a bad one last year killing calves just miles from I-90 near Greycliff. Wolves around area to, and quite a few lions. I have heard the outfitters have been having a tough time up in these parts. I would hunt FS land adjacent to private holdings if it were me.

Bring your trekking poles. I hunted mostly 317 on the other side of the range last year and downloaded a bunch of maps in 560. Steep!

We hunted those areas a couple years ago and GW advised to be really smart about where we hung our deer, adding bear are all over the area, just a reminder he said

There are elk there, but the country is BRUTAL. Be ready for lots and lots of dark timber and steep country. As other have said be very prepared for bears. I have hunted more of 520 and eventually was successful, but it came after years of work and in the end, I literally ran into a heard of elk on the trail and had a 30-yard shot.

So it's fun and pretty, but there are better "general' areas in Montana for elk.
