What is the best way to clean scope lenses of water while hunting? I was hunting in the rain this evening and had my lenses covered with butler creek scope caps. They work good until I had a shot opportunity that didn’t present itself. After that I had moisture on the lenses that I could not remedy. I tried wiping them with my merino wool neck gaiter but it just sweared the water around. After that my effective range went down to about 100 yards due to not having a clear sight picture. Anything I could’ve dove differently?

Cotton wipes to absorb the water with light passes, then a lens wipe with alcohol will help evaporate water.

Soft 100% cotton face wipes women use and a-tips are safe on lenses. Microfiber stuff isn’t the best as absorbing water.

The little cloth that came with the scope sits in the front pouch of my bino harness. The Meopta white cloths work really well as it’s a bit absorbent. Along with a couple of those Zeiss glasses cleaner one time use wipes the alcohol works great.

Lil shamwow tucked in an inside pocket helps. Also those butler creeks are one time use! Soon as they get wet, do not close them up until they are dried out.

Thanks, I had wondered if some sort of small sponge, or shamwow would work. It was raining pretty hard and I couldn’t produce anything that wasn’t already damp to try to dry the lenses.
