Are there any options for direct mount rings for a model 7 other than the Talley options? I did some searching and it looks like those are about it versus going with a rail or a DNZ mount. I just found a stainless model 7 in 243 for a lightweight setup and am working on setting it up.

I'm jealous. I mean I'm not a particularly big fan of the way really short actions force you to have your rings so close to each other, I think longer actions offer better scope support due to spacing, but other than that nitpick I would absolutely love to have a short hunting rifle based on a model 7. Please post pictures when you get it up and going.

I think with a compact NF 2.5-10 and a larger bolt knob it is going to be a dandy. Might have to get a compact stock on it eventually, but we will see!

I love the Talley mounts. I have them on my Model Sevens. I dont know if Leupold makes their version for the Model Seven or not.

I haven’t had any problems with the Talleys on three different model seven’s. Like you said you can always go with a pic rail or I also have one with a Leupold one piece base and their standard rings.

Burris steel xtreme tactical bases.

If a 30mm scope - Farrell aluminum rings. You’ll need to grind some of the front claw to keep it from contacting the receiver. A few passes with a bastard file did it no problem

If a 1” scope - warne hyper lite rings

Not much heavier than Talley LWs but significantly more reliable. As a bonus, a scope in farrells can be removed and put back on and retain zero as long as you torque them the same. I make witness lines with white out.

I used Talley LWs for years but lost confidence in them when my third ring cracked
