Looking for some opinions on a project.

I have a Browning X bolt short action that has been rebarreled with an OMR carbon fiber barrel. I already have a McMillian for it but really want to put it in an mdt chassis for the option to run a folding stock. I know MDT made an ESS chassis for a browning X bolt short action some years ago, but I haven’t had any luck on finding one.

Someone mentioned to me that you can buy a flat top MDT chassis from MDT and possibly have it milled out for whatever action you wanted. Has anyone ever done this, or know of someone who is capable of doing this?

Yes, I know Browning has little aftermarket support. This gun has sentimental meaning to me and I’m going to keep it and hunt with it.

Thanks in advance for any help or insight on this!

Im selling an X Bolt Stalker in 7mm08 for this exact reason.

It makes zero sense to me that every other action, including garbage Savage Axsis have endless options for stocks and aftermarket support. But what is arguably the best common factory rifle next to Tikka gets nothing.

I've patiently waited for someone, anyone to inlet and it doesnt seem like it's going to happen, which is insane. So I'm moving on. Great shooting gun, great trigger. Its a shame.

If I didn't have so many projects already, I would try to make one myself. It can't be that hard to mill a chassis. My XBolt Max SPR is also begging for a folding chassis.

If you ever find the time to do it, I’d be interested to hear back on how it went!

I wonder if there is an existing action that is so close thay you could modify something already inletted for something else. Finish it off with bedding compound or epoxy.
