So I have had a canon g5x mark ii for awhile now. Perfect little point n shoot to bring on backcountry hunts. But I think I do want to get into more video and unfortantely, this camera doesnt have a microphone jack. Takes awesome stills but the audio for videos kinda sucks.

Looking into the sony rx100 vii. Gonna be an upgrade as far as price but i wanna make sure i have the ability to take great stills but also have something with an external mic jack for good self filming.

To the question- Any good recommendations for a microphone system? Something that doesnt break the bank preferably but good enough to clip onto my shirt or whatever and can bring on a backpack hunt. Thanks!

Hey Joel , been a minute here but I am still learning about what i need (ive spent a lot of time with still, reading a few photo books to this point as well. But video / audio I have a lot to learn).

So i have a canon g5x mark 2. Theres no mic jak and audio would kinda suck to self film any hunts. Instead of shopping for a new point n shoot with a mic jak.... can i just look for an external audio recording device? Then during post edits I can merge the audio and video together??

The short answer is yes. We do not handle that equipment so I can't suggest the best option for you as it's not something I have enough knowledge with

Thanks for thinking of us
