Hey guys I have a CA Mesa 300 prc. I need to lighten it up a bit.
Would a proof stock with a carbon barrel inlet work or would the inlet be too large and cause issues ?

It will work just fine but you’ll have some extra room. So cosmetically you might not love it but there’s not going to be any issues

If I'm reading it right on the CA website it says the Mesa has a featherweight contour?? If so the barrel channel is going to be huge! Its inlet for a Proof Sendero/Sendero Lite barrel. I just had a rifle built with that stock and a CF wrapped Bartlein #4 and there is still plenty of room and a Bart #4 is pretty beefy. Mine looks fine but I doubt I'd went to go with a skinnier barrel.

But I will say that Proof stock is really nice so if you do go that route its a darn nice stock and mine was just under 20 ozs so they are as light weight as advertised.

Swap your factory stock for a Mesa Precision altitude. Will drop you 10oz. If you wanted to change barrel, Christensen makes the lightest carbon tubes, and would probably save you another 4-8oz total. That's a lot of money to drop a pound. If I were you, sell the Mesa, but a ridgeline and put it into a Mesa stock, should have you at 6.7# or so. The Christensen stocks are usually 4-8oz heavier than advertised on the Mesa and ridgeline models.

My stock is 40 oz.
I have a ridgeline 300 prc in a proof of ways 5.5 bare.
Mesa stock is 16 weeks out reason I was looking at the proof was they are in stock

Proof stocks are only inlet in their sendero barrel channel last I looked. It would look way out of place with a #2 steel barrel in there. I've had problems with their last two barrels I've had chambered, so I won't touch anything they sell at the moment. Sad, as their shop is right down the street.
