One of my buddies is trying to find some hiking boots made in the good ol US of A. Does anyone know of any? He's looking for light and breathable. Thanks!

Some Danners are still made in Portland, but it is probably a very small percentage these days.

I don't own a pair, but I believe the Danner Mountain Light II boot is made in the US.

You'll probably have to spend at least North of 250 to find American made boots, or mores specifically "manufactured" in America. Not to mention, you likely won't have the latest and greatest.
For example, you can get a pair of Redwings, but they are heavy, and take a minute to break in. I've owned several pairs of Redwings, while they are rock solid, they aren't a pure hiking book persay.

Hoffman boots out of Idaho, make good American made boots. I've never tried their hiking boots, but their logging boots are top notch
