I'm looking at getting one of these as a "do-everything" boot here in MI (deer, hunting, scouting, turkey, hunting, 'shrooming, etc...) I'm leaning towards the Meindl but wanted to see if anyone out there has experience with either? TIA

I own the West Rivers and a different pair of Meindls.
I grew up in the upper midwest and the West Rivers toe insulation is lacking, you can even feel that if you stick your hand in the boot and definitely will feel that in your toes if you do stand hunting. If you are moving then it works well.

Both of those brands have soles you8 can stalk in, they are stiffer than what I would wear in the upper Midwest though.

If you want an early season boot take a look at the Crispi Lapponia's - basically foot moccasins with a decent sole and some support. Then use an appropriate boot for the winter hunts.

If you move alot on your hunts and your feet run warm then the West Rivers can work. They will shrink a half size after the leather gets wet though so account for that.
