Was surprised to see Caylen so negative on Bergers and the frequent use of the word “failure”. A little disappointed there was no mention about how hitting different points of a scapula would have different results. Funny how they treat the terminal ascent as just a run of the mill bonded bullet when it isn’t at all with that thick solid shank. Guess it is to be expected from meateater. They are pretty clueless when it comes to gun stuff.

I shot a bull moose at 50 yards right through the shoulder this year with a 168 berger. Blew through the shoulder bone, totally effed up the vitals. I had several ignorant individuals tell me that I needed a tougher bullet because there is no way a berger would work in the scenario I used it in. Sometimes you have to mute the “experts” and to with your own experience.

Actually just watched that video. I've shot lots of the 3 types of bullets at game. Not surprised at all at what was shown.

IMO bonded is the best for big game hunting, accubond, bondstrike , nosler partitions, , scorroco , ect.
I tested the OG Barnes X in the 1990’s and found expansion and pressure issues, the pressure issue was 100% fixed,
every mono made has a maximum range of 1800 FPS
now cup & core like berger & hornday ELD x & M , are flying bombs under 200 meters and I wouldn’t let People hunt with that junk on nilgai and elk unless they are 15+% over standard shooting weight, great BC & accurate, but terrible perfomance at high volocity 100% opposite of a mono

That's what threw me off. Caylen is not a joke, so the shit he was saying caught me by surprise. I recall him saying he uses 7 saum w/ 180 bergers for hunting. I don't know about the other guy that's the meateater firearms guy.

Meateater does have the branded federal trophy copper ammo they don't want to make look like the dud of the show i guess.

Thanks. I’ve never heard of any of that. How do they have if figured out when none of the big manufacturers can get a mono to open up under 2000 fps. Is that some super soft copper alloy that would disintegrate if you launched it at 2800+ fps?

I don't think any of the big guys lathe turn their monos.

I think you could launch it at 2800fps, but I don't think that'll end up with an ideal impact velocity. If you look at the construction of them, they all have the petals pre-cut all the way through.

I don’t think any of the big mfrs are making monos dedicated for subsonic (read 300blk pistol) use.
