I pretty much use nothing but MDT mags - both polymer and steel in my two Tikka T3X 6.5 creedmoors. I have one in an MDT chassis and one in an XLR chassis. The XLR handles them great. I do run into an occasional jam with the steel mags without the binder plate on my 6.5 with the MDT chassis but I've never had a single issue with the polymer MDT mags in the XLR chassis. I like them a lot
If you are doing long reloads then maybe metal. However if you are just shooting factory ammo or reloads at or near factory length, I'd just go polymer. But you want the mags without the binder plate if you are loading them long. I have no reason to vote for metal over polymer when I've had zero issues with the MDT polymer mags. They are quality.Do you have a preference of metal vs polymer? I’m used to polymer. I think the metals I looked at had the binding plate.
