Really?No. ...for the 38th time.
It cost me $8K, plus travel and tag, last year in Alberta.wonder how much it cost to put your name on it and thinking how much a real hunt might have cost in canada with no draws.

in that case worth the try to get drawn or attempt it.$15/ year
Isn’t a non-resident alternate the alternate or second hunter for the successful applicant that actually drew the tag? Maine allows 2 alternates on the primary applicants tag and either the successful Primary applicant or the #1 Alternate can shoot the Moose as long as they’re hunting together! If the #1 alternate is not available then the #2 alternate is allowed to participate as longs as hunting with the Primary.I was drawn as a non resident alternate this year, anyone know the odds of getting a tag through that process?

I was the #1 alternate on my father’s tag. My father was a resident and I was a non-resident.
I think they have 2 “types” of alternates, you are correct that there can be an alternate person on a tag which is one type. I’m listed as a NR alternate if tags become available.
Here is what it says on the ME Moose lottery page on the alternate I’m asking about:
Moose Permit - Resident Alternates
Results are shown in the following format: Name, Town, State, and Alternate Number.
Alternates will be used on an 'as needed' basis starting with number 1, and will be notified as permits become available.
I didn’t know if anyone else had been the same type of alternate and ended up with a tag.

Interesting. I was not aware that was even an option. I imagine that’s what happens if someone turns their tag in as a non-resident. Does it tell you what number alternate you are?
I see the list now. Good luck!!
