Magazine Donation

Somewhat off topic, but I’ve inadvertently collected dozens of hunting magazines in great condition over the past couple of years that I would prefer to donate (at my expense) instead of tossing in the recycle bin. Internet searches for the topic are uninspiring as most companies want you to sign up to “send new magazines each month for the low low price of.....”

I’d like to send them overseas, or to a VA organization here in the states, but have been unsuccessful in my searches. Anyone able to point me in the right direction for donation?

I would get with Adopt a Platoon. They should be able to help getting them to a deployed Soldier.

If that doesn't work I am sure there is someone on this board that is deployed that would appreciate them or her them with someone that would.

I always appreciated new reading material overseas

There's a local group that does this very thing for the troops overseas. It's aptly called Magazines for Troops. They do, however, request that the magazines be current. They have a collection box at the Lakeside Post Office. They also regularly receive boxes of donated magazines through the mail.

I know both of the gals that operate it and one of them currently has a son serving overseas.

If you feel so inclined their address is:

Magazines for Troops
PO box 339
Lakeside, MT 59922

Thanks for this. I mentioned it to other folks in my office and were planning to organize a drive in January.

Appreciate this information, most of my subscriptions aren't the ones sitting on store shelves (like F&S, OL, etc) so even though they may be a littler older, should still be something they haven't seen too many of. Thanks again!
