I understand the weight penalty of a good dialing system that tracks well - why isn’t there a viable FFP scope with a Mil reticle and .2mil subtensions on the elevation axis?

Frustrated as a light mil scope seems to be like trying to find a unicorn that craps rainbows...

Here is the Reticle on the Vortex AMG. Are you dead set on Mils? This one is a 28oz FFP

Good reticle, but it’s lot what I would consider ‘light’ at almost 29 ounces. Take that reticle, put it in a 3-12ish FFP 30mm tube with capped windage and elevation and boom.

What's driving you to this exact combination? Maybe explain what role you are wanting this scope to fill and how you most often expect to use it?

You mention wanting accurate turrets for dialing. If you're looking to stretch the rifles legs at distance, you'll find most everyone dials for elevation then holds for windage. So, this puts the emphasis for finer subtensions on the horizontal crosshair instead of the vertical.

You also mention a mid-range mag (3-12). With only 12x max power a .2 mil subtension could be somewhat difficult to effectively use quickly in the field.

Like mentioned above, I think you'll find a lot wider selection if you consider .5 mil graduations on the vertical

Ive got a Leupold MK6 3-18 that sits at 23oz but the TMR is a compromise. Believe the NX8 line up will be in the 28oz range with the clean MIL-C...pretty limited options as you've found it sounds like

For a hunting application i don’t need the dials IF the reticle were good. Example: take Bushnells G2H reticle in the LRHS - add some .2 mil subtensions on the elevation axis, cap the turrets, make sure it’s FFP and boom.
