Finally got my Tikka done with 7.5" twist Carbon Six barrel and had my smith throat the chamber out so that I could fully utilize the long action mags I am using (300 win mag factory mags) and maximize case capacity . I have Sierra 175 gr TGK, 170 Nosler Bal Tips and some Nosler 165 gr LRAB bullets and limited powder choices available (H1000, Retumbo, RL19, IMR 7828 and 7828 SSC, H4831, Magpro ). So if anyone has any experience with any of these, please let me know. I have found quite a bit on 6.8 Western with these bullets and could carefully add a couple of grains to that data, but would prefer 1st hand experience.

I shoot a 170 berger out of a 1-9" twist barrel. I shoot 66.4 grains of retumbo and a rem 9-½ primer.

Just about did a 1 in 8 270 WSM but changed my mind went with the 6.8 Western in the end. You should be fine using the 6.8 Western data as a starting point like you mentioned. Good luck, sounds like a sweet rig!

Thanks for the input! Hopefully I'll be able to do some load development this weekend. Here's a couple of pic's, cartridge on left is "normal " 270wsm , right is 175 tgk seated for my chamber. 20230307_184204.jpg20230304_132849.jpg20230307_184204.jpg20230304_132849.jpg20230304_132835.jpg

Quite the difference between the two. I've got some 175 gr TGK's and they sure are long bullets. Please keep us up to date, always nice to see guys running fast twist 270's of all sorts!

I've had best luck with H4831SC out of my 6.8W. I used 270WSM data to get in the ball park on my 6.8 loads, so they're pretty interchangeable.

Here's my load info for my 6.8W, but work up to it.
175 TGK
58gr H4831SC
Fed LRMag 215
0.020" off land

Not 175 tgk, but with the 175 matrix vld I worked up to 63gr h1000 for 2892. This was in kimber 8400 rebarreled with 1-8 270 wsm so max oal was around 2.95
