"Long Range" Open Sight Setup

What's up all. I just wanted to share a DIY dialable rear sight option that I fashioned a few months back that can be mounted on a pic rail on your rig. I do quite a bit of muzzy hunting (both open and scoped in several states) and last year I picked up a CVA Paramount Pro 45 and moved my Knight Ultralite 50 into the backup role. As everyone knows the Revic is one of the few games in town in regards to a pic mounted dial peep and though I do have one on order, I wanted to see if I could make something out of my Williams I had laying around from my Ultralite. I put a scope on the Paramount regularly and didn't want to constantly pull the rail off, so I picked up a mini red dot pic plate and drilled and tapped it and mounted the Williams and it worked pretty damn good. The graduations on it were a little too fine for this flat shooting rig, but I shot to 300 very accurately no problem. The plate is from SwampFox and I run the Revic front sight, but you can definitely keep it cheaper with spacers. And I run extra powder, primers and bullet tubes in the mag of the chassis. Also can't recommend the Arrowhead Breach system enough if you run a Paramount. Hopefully someone finds this helpful.

Solid work! Those Williams peeps are good for as far as you can see. I've shot mine out to 400. The target knobs are a nice addition as well.

I am currently running a very similar setup on a paramount 50 cal. Williams adjustable peep with target knobs. I will agree that it works very well. I have been shooting out to 300 with good success, I am planning to try and stretch it out to ~400 here soon. I've been really impressed with how flat shooting this is for a muzzy.

My buddy just took a good bull using it a couple weeks ago 1 shot at 200, 2nd shot at 250. Both good hits.

I have a 1st rifle cow tag that I am going to test the gun out on, and then a late season muzzy bull tag.

Would be interested in some pictures of that too.

I had an idea to just slightly modify the standard williams peep but haven't got around to it yet. Maybe a winter project.

Thats a wild looking Muzzy man, I was thinking about putting an old hawken kit together, that think is like the exact opposite haha, pretty cool though

Sure thing. Here you go. I don't have to worry about taking it off to run a scope, so the sight is just mounted directly to the reciever. But I did end up shimming the rear sight up about an 1/8th of an inch to get the rifle to zero at the top of the elevation adjustment. This was probably not necessary though since the rifle shoots pretty flat, I didn't end up needing nearly the amount of adjustment as I thought I was going to. The biggest factor for shooting out at further distance for me was getting the right front sight. I ended up settling on the lee shaver fine post, I feel comfortable with this setup out to 300 yards on an elk. It's not shown in this picture, but I did put a piece of white tape same as the OP and have my yardages marked out to dial to.

Great thinking. Also quite the setup. You put your CVA in a chassis? That’s probably pretty handy to pack.

Ya I have several XLR chassis so I just dropped it in one of them and can swap it around. The folder is awesome for the muzz. The front site is from Revic. Got it from Arrowhead rifles who is carrying them.

ya that would be the perfect setup if I didn't have to regularly swap the scope on. That's badass though. I also run the Lee Shaver fine!

I had an NECG rear peep on the Pic rail and a Lyman front globe on a ramp.

I have a Williams target peep and Lyman Globe with a small cross hair in my UL.45.

I trimmed the peep instead of my stock. Can still shoot out past 400 yards.

What is your load data on that 50 cal. I have a UT deer myzzy hunt coming up and trying to decide on a load
