Local college Cheerleader/Hunter receiving death threats

Another example of the ignorance and lack of education on anti-hunters. A local Texas Tech cheerleader, Kendall Jones, has been hunting big game in Africa since she was 13. She recently posted pics of a rhino green hunt where a vet actually got involved in treating the animal along with some other pics of animals she took. She spoke of the conservation methods that the locals were taking with the animals and what the hunting provided for the local tribes. She posted all this on her professional Facebook page and low and behold the anti-hunters start a boycott to have her Facebook page removed. She ended up having to take that page down and started a new one. She had numerous death threats that will be investigated by local LE. Just mind boggling the ingnorance and hypocrisy of people.

I am a Tech student as well and I applaud her for what she's doing! I read some of the comments but had to stop myself because I could feel my blood begin to boil. Some were even from fellow Red Raiders. I just don't understand how such a seemingly large segment of our population is completely out of touch with reality. It is sickening really.

This is just crazy.....if you don't think there is an assault on hunting...just see what is going on here. Already over 100,000 sigs against her on FB.

The antis mobilize resources like crazy, bet they get 400,000 sigs on this thing.........while many hunters sit there and do little/nothing to support their sport

What is telling from this event and the Mellissa Bachman reaction last year is that anti hunters are misogynist. Spend a few seconds looking for men's african hunting FB posts and there is no outrage. However, if a pretty girl shoots a fuzzy african critter the FB world loses its mind. Hatred of women in its purist form.

Last year I asked a noted feminist journalist what she thought of the change.org petition to have Bachman banned from entering Africa. Specifically about petition signers stating that she should be killed. No response. I guess if Bachman was gay or a minority the journalist might have responded. Now with the second event for Kelly maybe the third wave feminist movement will respond to threats that women should be killed due to their participation in legal, regualated hobbies.

If the threats are coming out of Lubbock (or anywhere in Texas except Austin) I'd be shocked. That said, times are changing even in the Lone Star State and not for the better IMHO. Because she elected to post this on FB then I'm not surprised at all at the outcome. I don't use FB and this is just one of the many reasons. If I accomplish something and I want my friends and family to know, I'll tell them. Outside of that, it's no-one elses damn business.

I feel for the girl. A FB onslaught is not fun to go through. A family member of mine just went through it and it was relentless.

The "tyranny of the majority" is a real thing. I have a diverse group of FB friends, including some Vegans. I know I have had people de-friend me because of hunting posts and that is ok. If I get grief from any of them I can deal with it in a personal manner.

I feel sorry for this young lady.

Yeah there are definetley some Red Raiders here. Small world truly. I don't know why it shocks me when I work in LE and see and hear things I never thought possible but this young lady is simply excercising her god given right and doing so in a respectful and dignifing manner for the hunting world and this has now become it just local news but national news. Some nut jobs in Africa or also trying to ban her from entering the country. Just blows me away. I totally agree with what your saying Beendare and all the other comments. Like some others I have never had a FaceBook account nor will I ever but I hope this young lady stays the course and doesn't back down.

What shocks me is the comments coming from some of the hunters.

If we don't pull our act together and get something on the table to match what the antis are throwing at us, we are done.

It's a real shame when you get applauded by society and even congratulation phone calls from our President when you announce you're gay. But when people find out you're a hunter, they're ready to string you up. That is really messed up! Our society has become a joke.

No such thing as bad publicity . Read one article that said she was looking to have her own hunting show. She's a cutie and now the spot light is on her, she'll likly get one and end up winning despite any threats .and good for her.
