Heading to the mountains to go after dall sheep with my two piece Big Jim Buffalo bow this summer. I'm searching to see if anyone knows of a really lightweight stringer as well as full length arm-guard? I have a leather Black Widow stringer and a leather/cordura arm guard at the moment. I appreciate any ideas and recommendations, thanks.

I shoot a longbow and only wear an arm guard if I have on clothing with a sleeve that is not snug; like maybe a rain jacket. Then I just use the top 6-8" of an old smartwool sock that I cut the foot part off. Slip it on like a sleeve.

I don't always use a stringer for longbows but the Webster traditional stringer is pretty light. It's made from nylon webbing.

Thanks for the ideas guys, I went ahead and ordered the Webster stringer, it looks light and gets really good reviews online. I'll have to look around at more ideas for the arm guard, since I'll likely be wearing a jacket or over whites that could be baggy.

If you just want to keep clothes out of the way, rubber bands are cheap and light.

An armguards true purpose is less to keep clothes out of the way, and more to provide a smooth surface for the string to glide over should it hit and not "catch" on clothing.

I can shoot my longbow without a guard, it's just that I might have some baggy overwhite tyvek suit on that I could potentially be shooting in and need to keep the string from hitting the fabric. Rubber bands are a good idea though, thanks. I checked out some of the various tube/compression type one's like you linked to Flatbow as well. There are a lot of different options out there, I just need to find a lightweight, reliable method. I'll test out some different bands and make a tube out of an old sock or something and see how it goes. I appreciate the help.

I just received my BJ Thunder Child last week and its a shooter. My Robertson Wolfer unexpected; was delivered a week prior to the TC. Kind of a expensive month. To your question. Since the mid 70's I have always used an arm guard and glove. I too use the leather arm guard but have used one made by Saunders as well. The Saunders arm guard is 7" in length, vented and all plastic. I have used it for a lot of years and it has not failed on me. I like in warmer weather because it is a lot cooler and impervious to the weather. You can pick them up at SWH around 10 to 12 bucks (I think) that's about as light as it gets.
