I can't find anyone mentioning this ball head with a search so I thought I'd share.

RRS BPC-16

I have one of the above as well as the BC-18. I used the 18 this season and really liked it. It locks down tight and will not move. For a simple ball head it's fantastic.

I decided I wanted to try the 16 with the integrated panner. I really like it especially given the weight. It weighs 4.4 oz. on my scale just like they advertise. With my 12x50's and Kowa 553 it's very nice. I no longer have my 85 spotter but I bet it would handle them without issue. It adjusts to hold the weight of either without moving when at odd angles especially with the 12's. But, it's still smooth enough to push either around with my nose or side of head.

For anyone looking for an incredibly compact and light ballhead option for binos and smaller spotters this is one to look at.

I'm curious if it can handle my atx 85.. it will be on a surui 1205 tripod, however my concern is the spotter being to heavy for the pan tension. And is the ball head tension going to have enough variance to hold the larger spotter without dropping off or being annoyingly tricky to use? I understand it has a 5lb rating but the atx85 is pushing it. The reason I ask is because I want to eventually get a kowa 553 and want a head that is light yet useable with both spotters so I can simply keep things the same and just pack a different spotter...Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Agreed, that scope would be too much for this head. Great head for a lightweight setup but it won't handle the big scopes.

Any update on the head? Are you still using it? I am very curious about the inverted ball head concept. Seems like having the pan above the ball would be really nice. Debating between this and the aziak backcountry light.

I posted that nearly five years ago. I no longer have it. I'm using an Anvil for everything now.

I cannot comment on the Aziak.
