I don't use optics often & when I do, I use my Leupold Yosimite 6x30s. Not much call for anything bigger down here! However, I'm headed out to CO for an early season Elk hunt & I think I'll need bigger/better glasses..
Does anyone have an opinion on these optics?
Which size would you go with, if this was your only option? ;8x42 or 10x42?

I prefer 10x over 8x binos for the open areas I hunt in the West. I prefer to cover ground with my eyes over my feet. Anything that 10x can't pick apart gets a look through a spotting scope. However, a lot depends on where and how you are hunting. If you were only hunting inside dark timber then maybe the 8x binos would be the better option. Everything else being equal the 8x glass will be brighter than the 10x.

If you can, step up to the BX3 Mojave's. I have had them for a handful of years now and luv'm. Great warranty. They went on several elk trips and are now my whitetail glasses. Handled any weather I could. Don't compare to my Zeiss', but they're a third of the price. All my glasses are 10-42s. Good luck.

The BX2 Acadias have a little too much edge distortion for my liking. I use the next step up, the Leupold Cascades, 10x42 (been using since 2008). I really like these binos, good clarity, and won't break the bank. I like the Mojaves too; they are a slight upgrade from the Cascades. There is a greater difference going from the Acadia to the Cascades. Law of diminishing returns comes into play here in my opinion. I do like the 10x for CO hunting. Hope that helps.

In the real world, they're fine glass. I've got a pair that are 3 years old. Not as clear/sharp as my Viper HDs, but for the money they are dang hard to beat. I've seen lots of deer, ducks, elk, and antelope through mine.
