I'm needing to get a rangefinder that will range animals (deer, elk, etc.) reliably to 1000 yds. I've narrowed it to these two, but am open to any suggestions you have. Trying to keep it around $500, but $700 isn't out of the question. If you have 1000+ yd experience (good or bad) with these or others, I'd like to hear about it. I currently have a Leupold 1600, and it won't reliably range soft targets past 700 ish.

I had both now I have 2 4000's. These have ranged perfectly in snow, fog and everything I've hunted in. My guide friend loves them and is constantly borrowing them. He has some Leica RF binocs. I haven't ranged alot past 800 yards or so, but my 2800 had issues with that distance.
