I acquired a Lawton in a 308. Bull barrel, stock looks after market? Not sure?

Not sure what I have here and if I should use it or not. Looks to like it was shot very little. Very clean and the action is very nice.

Should I use this rifle or is it something that should be a safe queen? I did not realize at the time that these are no longer made. Does not have the scope or bipod with it.

Thanks.139730

Shoot it. They are not collectors items. They were well made actions and barrels. Since they mostly offered parts, you'll find their barrels and actions in all manner of different style rifles.

Cris,
I don't know who smithed that rifle; but I knew Barney Lawton( the action maker) since we were about 14 years old. Barney began his machining career in automotive machining in PA. He was always a hunter, eventually getting the long range "bug". Barney moved to Montana and some years later began making actions and barrels.
Regrettably, Barney passed away a few years ago. Its always nice to know a little about a rifle's pedigree. "Shoot that thing".
