May be a dumb question but does the cost of the kit get deducted from the boot if you order a pair? I thought I read somewhere that it does but it isn't clear on their website.

On another note what kind of pricing are you looking at for their packages? I really didn't see anything on their site other than the kit price of 150.00.

Stephen told me over the phone two weeks that the $150 was not included. Then in an email he said it is included. I still cant imagine paying almost $400 for a boot fitting on top of $350-400 boots. Choovhntr I called due to the fact that after reading the boot reviews and then going to their website it was not clear to me.

I talked to Stephen on the phone and he said the custom fit service was $450, which included the kit. $150 of that (the kit) would be applied to the boot purchase. So you're looking at $300 plus the price of the boot.

My only big problem is heel blisters, so I figured I could find a way to make a pair of boots work so I started looking around for prices on some Lowa Tibets. My decision was made when I found 20% off at www.onlineshoes.com and free shipping. That put the Tibets at $285. I couldn't pass that up.

I just checked and they still have the 20% promo (use the code STYLE15). They have Lowa Tibets and Bighorns available.

My boots were delivered a couple of days ago and I'm wearing them around the house for a few days to make sure I like them before I take them ourtside. Onlineshoes.com has a 365 day return.

I hope this helps someone get a deal on some awesome boots.

That helps a ton. Thank you. Looking into the tech-lite hunters just worried about spending the money if they don't fit right. Looks like it may be a trial and error thing for me

My heel is probably normal except that I have tight Achilles tendons which seems to make me prone to heel blisters. Have been working with Stephen @ Lathrops (I am fortunate that I live within 30 minutes of their place) to come up with the right boot and fit. I used their custom boot system with Stephen spending over 2 hours working with me. Recommended the Zamberlan Vioz. The $150 was deducted from the cost of the boots/services. Can only say that their services means you will get a custom fit, where the boot is tweeked to better fit your width, shape, etc.

Is it worth it? All I know is that I am making plans for my first elk hunt in NW CO and do not want to jeopardize the whole trip on poor fitting boots. I plan to have these boots for several years and 100s of miles, so figured the additional expense is worth it.

Still waiting to pick them up, but feel very good about the selection and services of Lathrop.

Its a bit confusing on the website, best bet is to call if you need specific answers.
Here is the info to the custom kit:
https://lathropandsons.com/custom-boot-systems.html

This is a bit different that going directly to a specific boot and adding a fit option.

My recommendation, if going for a custom fit is to forget boot choice, and just let them know what you plan on doing and where. The reason I went for a custom fit was because I just could not get a boot to that did not tear my feet up. I had them measure my feet via sent in tracings and pictures, described where and what I hunt, and then let them pick the boot. Was not the boot I was looking for, but pretty darn happy with the performance in the end.
