I understand what you mean haha. I would probably classify myself the same way and the fit on all of the pieces are great if you like athletic cut garments. Kuiu stuff is made with very tight tolerances and if a piece is labeled as a mid layer, it is sized perfectly to fit under a shell and over a base

Interested in the Superdown pants.
I am 5'6" with a 33-34" waist...definitely a smedium Concerened these would be too tight over pants.
