The new lightweight Ultra Merino 120 LT Series looks sweet. I ordered the zip-off pants and the LS crew to try out.
The thin Merino pieces I've had have held up fairly well.how well does that real light stuff hold up men?
more nylon so should dry quicker and in theory be more durable. lose a tiny bit of the scent benefits but i like more of a nylon blend for hot weather. i've always been underwhelmed with their merino so i probably will pass. What’s the big changes? They dropped the thickness 4%, (from 125 to 120 g/m2), they return to their original shape (my 125 SS is bad for this), stronger (my 125 LS had a hole in day 3) and 15% higher price. I see they have a hoody like the wick 150. Might order a 120 SS in Stone, nice plain colour and their emblem looks harder to see which is a plus.
merino and nylon both absorb 30% water, but they hold water differently so it seems nylon dry's quicker but on paper it shouldn't be a big difference.more nylon so should dry quicker and in theory be more durable. lose a tiny bit of the scent benefits but i like more of a nylon blend for hot weather. i've always been underwhelmed with their merino so i probably will pass.
Completely agree with SG chinook. Best merino shirt design, but the 170 weight is a bit heavy in warm weather.I still don’t understand why they avoid putting a zip neck in the lightweight pieces. I’d really like to see the hoody for the 120 LT add that. That Merino 145 hoody should be the design of all the lightest weight options. First Lite does the same thing…no quarter zip hoody on the lightest weight merino. SG’s hoody is just a little too heavy for me for hot weather, but I think their design of the chinook is awesome.
First Lite has their Wick and Kiln shirts in a quarter zip that zips down to the nipple line. I have a few of them for archery in Florida.Sitka has the only lightweight merino top with a quarter zip. It’s awesome. But a hood and a pocket of some sort would be next level.
