I’m a big fan of hilleberg and run a few of there models in Alaska depending on what I’m after and time of year. The Nallo is a good tent but because it only has one place to vent from it tends to condensate more than others. If your tall, the footbox of your bag will touch the inner and has made my sleeping bag damp. If it’s for 2 people your on the right track with looking at the 3 man. I have had good results with the Anjan 3 (yellow label, bag still touches the inner but the fly doesn’t go all the way to the ground so vents well and honestly does really well in the wind), kaitum 3 (red label, my go to most of the time because if you get weathered in two guys can comfortably sit up in it and eat or just not lay on your back all day), and the nammatj 3gt (black label and typically use when I know wind and weather will be extreme)

As for the Kuiu, I’ve hunted with guys that have used them and really liked them. Two guys is definitely doable and lots of guys do but might have to keep the bud light in the vestibule because it’s tight. Never heard of a failure on one personally and they are lighter than nearly all the hilleberg.

Probably can’t go wrong with either but for two guys you’ll have more room in a 3 man hille for sure. Nallo just didn’t work well for me but others might have a different experience.

Really appreciate the feedback. all of this is new to me and wanting to make sure that i am learing from others experiences rather than starting from scratch. i am only 5'10" and will be in the tent alone, so the 3 maybe more than i need, but appreciate room provided i don't sacrifice too much weight.

I've had the Kuiu Storm Star and Hilleberg Nallo GT, Anjan GT and now a Allak 2.

I love my Allak, but it is heavy and really not a "back packing" tent due to the weight. Having said that it works great for me and I wouldn't replace it.

I think the Kuiu is a great tent I just prefer the Hilleberg.

The biggest thing I didn't like about the Nallo and Anjan was how you get in and out of the tent from the end. I MUCH prefer a side entrance tent like the Kuiu or Allak. Air flow is much better, I think the condensation is less and I just think it's easier to get in or out of the tent from the side.

Both are great options, just comes down to personal preference.

Can't speak on the Storm Star. But, I do own the Mountain Star, Nallo 3GT and a Nallo 2. I tend to take the Hillebergs more often than the Star even in the earlier seasons. IMO the 3GT is just right for 2 people and gear.

Had a mountain star, then a storm star, and now a Anjan 3GT. For 1 person, the storm star is plenty big. It is a 4 season tent though, and I found it too warm for early season hunts. Have yet to pitch my Anjan 3GT, but am taking it on a sheep hunt this summer and expect good things....

I will say the kuius are very strong tents and kuiu customer service was great when I bent a pole. They sent me a new section free of charge.
