Looking to get a pair of lightweight early season boots and I was looking to get a pair of Kuiu R evolution or Crispy Colorados. Anybody care to help my research out and share any pros and cons before I buy.

Thank you.

I have the the scarves. I think they are a wonderful boot. They do run a little narrow for my feet, however I have a very flat wide foot. My only other complain is the dye they use on the leather with stain your socks. Myabe the Kuiu green won't be as bad.
Wish I could help with the cripis. I've been looking at the idaho or thors.

I’ve had good luck with my Colorado’s, on sale right now as well. Just replaced the insoles with a pair of synergy’s from L&S and it’s seemed to improve the boot for me. Just in my experiences they made the balls of my feet more tired when doing a lot of hiking in flat terrain or on roads you could say, but they also aren’t really meant for that, which is why I got the new insoles to help with this. They do have a good rocker though and are very comfortable. They’ve handled the steeper terrain great and when I’ve done pack outs. Haven’t had any issues with the gortex liner and my feet getting wet.

Ordered a pair of the r evolution and rebel k last week. r evolution is stiff with some flex and the rebel k is stiff and has very little flex. Very nice lightweight boots that are durable and well constructed. Will see how they handle steep terrain over the summer.

Thanks Brian,

I’m curious if you can help provide a bit more info on the stiffness. This is the sole attribute I’m concerned with. I had a pretty stiff pair of boots in the past (Meindl Alaskan Hiker) and now have a pair of Lowa Cevedale which are far too flexible for my preference.

Here’s a picture of my Lowa, for reference. How much can you flex the Evolution?

The r evolution flexes only about a half inch and the rebel k flexes about a quarter inch. Same way you are flexing in that picture. They are both brand new so they will prob break in and flex a little more.

Thanks, that’s super helpful. I’ll probably end up ordering the Evolution with that information. The cost of the Rebels are just so much higher, and it sounds like both boots will be plenty stiff enough to meet my needs.

Maybe buy both, test in a clean room indoors, and return one. Boot makers are fine with that. For me, KUIU was a terrible fit, Crispi ok, and Lowa Tibet amazing. But for another foot shape it could be the exact opposite.

Received the R-Evolution. Super nice boot, and I really like the fit for my foot. However, they flex more than I am personally looking for. I placed an order for the Rebel K and expect those will be exactly what I’m wanting.

Really impressive boot. Super light weight and the fit and quality seem top notch. I think the Evolution will probably suit many people, but not quite what I’m seeking. Wish there wasn’t such a giant price gap, tho!
