Going to colorado in november for an elk hunt. I have the guide jacket, kenai jacket, and attack pants. What base layers should I get? I was looking into the kenai pants and one of the zip off base layers.
I need some help before the Memorial sale is over!

I would call them to see if the base layers in their outlet will count with the sale. No deal for me on the kenai pants (no fly) for your legs the 145 zip offs should be fine with the attacks. I prefer layering 2 light base layers instead of one heavy unless stationary in the cold so 145 or peloton equivalent.

For insulated pants I decided to go with a kifaru woobie instead. More versatile having a blanket type insulation to wrap up in when glassing or boost your sleep system in a cold snap.

The base layers in the outlet do work with the sale to get the additional % off. I picked up a couple. I too am hesitant on the Kenai bottoms. I have the super down pants that I'll throw on over the top if I'm going to be sitting for an extended time in cold weather. Maybe the Kenai could work too, but it doesn't seem like as good of an option. I love the jacket though.

I just got my 145 zip-off bottoms in the mail and I'm not real impressed. I went with a large even though I'm a 32x32, based on them having notoriously skinny legs in their garments. When I tried them on, they stop above my ankles, are SUPER tight on my calves, then somewhat loose above the knee to the waist, and the waist seems to have no elastic to it.

When I opened the package and held them up, my first thought was "who in the world is shaped like this?!"

Just something to consider, I haven't decided whether I'll keep or return them.

No offense but don't you think you should have gotten a medium with those measurements? That would tighten up the waist to fit properly, and those pants are not meant to be full length, stop above your boots type thing. Maybe you should try the First Lite Merino base layer.

I guess it depends on how you hunt. I cover a LOT of ground whether it's archery or rifle so I wear lightweight merino base layers, so they'll wick the sweat away from my skin. But if I wasn't covering much terrain and just sitting I'd want something more substantial to keep me warm.

That's my problem with alot of this type of "athletic fit" clothing. I have to get it insanely big in the waist to even come close to fitting in the legs. I guess nobody else likes their clothes with a loose fit.

After you walk 6 miles in dark timber up and over down falls you will see why you don't want extra loose baggy clothes hanging on everything you step over. Not saying that loose clothes don't have there place but loose saggy clothing in the mountains is not where I want it ,especially shooting a bow.

No offense taken, you make a valid point. My measurements suggest i am a medium, the girth of my thighs does not however. For example, I just bought a pair of kryptek Ragnar pants and 32s looked like they were painted on me, 34 achieved the desired fit (aside from the waist). The waist of the 145s is pretty decent when I tightened it with the Velcro above the zippers (previously forgot to mention), still seems to be lacking elastic and maybe that's due to a non-continuous waistband. I was also unaware that they are meant to stop high. The thigh fit is really pretty good on me, I didn't want compression tight for these.

I may have typed it poorly but my main issue with them is the proportions to which they are cut. It just seems odd. The calves in them are just SO small compared to the rest of the garment.

I've been eyeballing the first light merino boxers and will check out their other stuff.

Thanks guys. I am more of an active hunter so I decided to go with the 145 zip offs and the kenai pants for when Im glassing. I wanted to hear from you guys because the sales reps basically recommended that I buy 1 of everything haha. Don't have the money for that!
