Few observations: The Proximity jacket is essentially a Kenai with fleece and a wind barrier- but it's just an ounce shy of 2 pounds. Not a big deal if you only use it for stand hunting whitetails, but I'd like a $300 jacket to serve more than one purpose.
They also don't commit to being Windproof. I wonder why. They tout all their soft shells and even their Peloton 240 as 'highly wind resistant'. My experience is that they're not. Especially the 240. Wonder how wind resistant they're talking. My assumption is that with a foam membrane designed specifically to cut wind it should be pretty dang windproof, but the reviews will tell.

The Windpro jacket looked most interesting to me- 18 oz. would be lighter than most soft shells, but it looks like they opted not to go with pit zips, and even in a jacket called a 'WindPro' they're still not committing to windproof.

Looking forward to hearing the reviews on these. I love the idea of a lighter, quieter version of a soft-shell, but only if it's as windproof as the Jetstream and somehow breaths as well without pit zips.

Just some observations after looking at the initial info on them.
Obviously this is just taking their word, I have a peloton 240 and I asked them if it would be more wind resistant than that, they said it would be significantly more wind resistant than that. It’s not a number but that’s what they said.

I like the weight, and I like the idea that it’s supposedly cut to fit a kenai under it. That would let you double the insulation at will and it’s all decently packable and zip off.

The noise thing kinda sucks, I’m hoping to hear some more feedback on it.

Guys - this is just my review so feel free to take with a grain of salt.

I ordered a set, but am returning it. Build quality is great, and it’s a nice jacket. However, it’s just not as quiet as I was expecting. If you rub the face fabric is noticeably louder than the stratus. You can all decide for yourself what that means but if it’s not quieter than the stratus I don’t really have a use for it.

Functionally I think it’ll fit in right with the first lite solitude in terms of bulk/warmth.

Hope any of this is helpful.
Thanks for your review. That was one of my concerns as I don’t think the stratus is all that particularly quiet either. I am thinking it may get quieter with use and washing, but if it’s louder than the stratus out of the package it’s a no for me. I appreciate you taking the time to inform us.

Glad yall mentioned that it was not very quiet. I'd say quiet is my #1 criteria. I will sit and shiver before I wear something that will make noise when I draw and get me busted. I picked up a stratus to use this year. I think it will work well for my temps.

Picked the set up, just waiting for it to ship so it’ll probably be a couple weeks but I should have a good chance to put it to the test this fall in a couple different states and widely varying conditions. It’s my first year using kuiu (other than their pants which are what sold me on trying other stuff) and I get cold pretty easy too so we will see how this stacks up.

Great video! Broke it down quite nicely. I do have a question regarding the pants (bibs). How hard would it be to throw a saddle on the outside of them? Is it too bulky that it would take to much tightening down to get it to work or is it streamlined enough there wouldn’t be a problem? Thank you!

I hunt out of a saddle and wont be wearing them. Im sure you easily could, but I dont like being bulky and won't wear any bib in one.

Hopefully they do a solid color hunter green for the bibs, and a hunter orange top. Need something like this I can use for more than one thing.

Agree on horse saddles and bibs. They can ride up your arse.

As for Jason being gone and then making money with another realm of the hunting industry, I don't blame them.

There are only about 1/10th as many Western hunters as there are Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and so on tree stand bubbas. Why would they not.

I bet duck hunting clothing within 5 years.
