I bought a Kifaru Supertarp late in the season last year, set it up once to seal the seams, then stashed it away. This last week, we had some crappy weather coming in, so I packed the tarp with me. I used to set up a USGI poncho just to protect my gear so I could leave it out and ready. The Supertarp let me get in under it with my gear and shoot from it! Very slick way to stay dry and stay hunting for very little extra weight...

Very nice. Love my ST, but haven't had it set up in that configuration yet. It's a very versatile shelter, that's for sure!

I have a super tarp for the very same reason. Hunting in Washington state you got to have a plan for dealing with rain, I don't unusually have trek poles with me day hunting but plan on using sticks for the poles. With my kryptek Poseidon rain gear and super tarp it really doesn't take up anymore room then just my issued gortex.
