planning to do the first burn in my small oval stove this weekend. Im completely new to stoves,so am seeking advice. I have already set up and took down the stove. I am going to have a bro come by to help with the first time pipe roll. my questions are, how long is a good first burn. Also, should i throw in a layer of dirt or sand in the base on this titanium model? any other tips from you guys would be great. thanks.

I have the older ss box but to get it set all you need is to get it good and hot. Doesn't need a whole lot of time. Pack it full of some dry wood and let her rip without any dampening and when it's cool the pipe will have a set and go together much easier. Make sure it's all straight and pretty the first time because that's what it will want to do from now on.

I've done it a couple of time but I'm usually in a hurry to get it going and ddon't line the bottom. I'm using an old ss.

One thing I will mention in regards to an oval stove is it can get some warping if you have it compressed to tightly. This isn't the end of the world but if the oval body warps a little, it can make it a little more of a bugger to assemble at times.
