Kifaru LPP fit?

So, I ordered a LPP and just received it. It’s a little snugger fit than I expected. I’m 6’2” and 185lbs and I was recommended a large. I wanted it more for cold days glassing or sitting in one spot in cold weather. So, I expected something that was a bit looser, so I could slip it over whatever I was wearing. Maybe I misunderstood the purpose but I’m trying to figure out if this is how it is supposed to fit or if I ought to swap it for a size bigger.

Other question- is the Kryptek version as shiny as the Coyote version. Seems like the Coyote version I have would really shine in the sun and, if the Kryptek version is flatter/duller, I might switch to that as well.

They do fit a bit more snug, seems like once it’s in they’re good but for me it’s the putting on and taking off where the next size up would help.

So, are y'all wearing it OVER other jackets, like you might with a puffy? I did throw on a light Kuiu jacket and a Kryptek fleece lined jacket and I didn't have any trouble getting the LPP on - it just sorta feels like it's going to be a snug fit as you're pulling it over your shoulders. Once it's on, though, I seem to have plenty of range of movement.

Yeah, that was kinda my concern - taking it on and off. It's right on the ragged edge of where it might, could become an irritant. Just can't tell. I'm prolly worrying over nothing.

The highlander color is shiny also, my only gripe about the LPP.

Yeah, that's kind of a drag. One of the tings I wanted it for most of all is for predator hunting. I do a lot of in-close shotgunning of coyotes so that shine may be an issue. Only time will tell. Surely Kifaru knows this is an issue. So, it must be impossible to find a suitable material (as of yet) that's got a matte appearance. As soon as I decide to keep it they're SURE to find a dull finish material and switch to that. Lol!

Thanks for the replies fellas!

I'm about as middle-of-the-road 'medium' as you get, and their medium fits me well. I usually wear it over a light-to-midweight layer, such as any of the FL options. I get the impression it was not designed for either hiking, or layering over lots of other stuff - both of which I actually see as positives - it goes on quick over a midweight layer when you need to rest, glass, have a lunch break, or are at camp. Plenty warm, more rugged than many, and without being outrageously bulky.

I have a full zip in large. I am 5'7" 180lb and have plenty of room for layering underneath. I am far from athletic.

I agree with some comments above. I don’t think it’s meant to be a layer to wear from the house to the glassing spot. I hike in a few miles to where I hunt and usually work up a good sweat. This is where the parka works. From 50 degree early season mornings I toss it over a t shirt after the hike in, to late season below freezing and wind blowing glassing sessions tossing it on over a mid weight layer setup. Beauty of the LPP is if you need to change positions or hike a bit in it, you don’t have to be afraid of damaging your high end insulation piece like some of these other companies products. Yes it does have some setbacks, but for its functionality I view them as minimal or non existent.

I ordered a large pull over one, found it to be really tight in the arms, shoulders. Just with wearing base layer. I’m 6’1” average size. Wear a large in other puffys.
I called kifaru to see if maybe they made it wrong. Guy said it is tight in the arms and recommended I get an XL. But I thought an XL would be too big in the chest and didn’t want to wait the lead time.
If it would of been looser in the arms & shoulders I would of kept it.

I’ve decided to run it for this winter although I’m going to swap it for a Kryptek version. I may end up trying the full zip version or even a custom Nunatak PCT jacket for something looser, as an over-jacket; but I’m going to give this pullover a good shot. I’m sure it’ll find it’s place. If I get a chance to go to Fairbanks in Feb. for some predator hunting, I’m definitely taking it as a mid layer. Lol!

Thanks for all the replies!

I don't have a LPP so can't comment on fit, but can comment on a jacket used for glassing. When I'm hiking to spot I'm generally in a light base layer with a windshirt over that. If it's particularly cold, I'll have a heavyweight grid fleece on as a mid-layer. My "glassing" jacket" is a Nunatak Apex one, very similar to the LPP (generally with lighter fabric) and goes over the top of whatever I'm wearing. I'd much rather have the fit of a jacket used for static purposes a little big, than a little small. I want it to go over my moving layers (whatever they may be) w/o too much fuss and being a little roomier creates a little more dead space and thus warmer as well.

If you're using this jacket quite a bit for moving, than maybe a little snugger would be preferred.
