Got a guide lid in for my Kifaru frame. How does the top attach to the frame? I have two carabiners securing the loop on the frame thru the ladder-lock for this weekend's trip. I'll search and re-visit next week.
Here's a couple of pics of how I run my guide lid on the frame. On the top I used a strap with a 3 bar slider on one end and a QR buckle set up on the other.
You could skip the QR buckle set up and just run the strap thru the ladder lock. The 3 bar slider end goes thru the top common loop then the other end either runs thru the ladder lock on the lid or to the QR buckle that I attached to the loop that had the ladder lock attached.
The bottom is just a strap with a k-clip on one end and a male buckle on the the other. Attach the k-clip to the bottom loop on the frame then run the strap with male end up to the lid female buckles.
You only have lid straps when using a pack bag that has them sewn on. If using just the frame and no pack bag you have to go with something like what is shown in the excellent photos above.
Castandblast is right. Shoulder straps stay hidden in the back pocket until used as pack straps. I put my rain jacket and a few other quickly needed items in that hidden pocket. Don't want to leave it wide open just to try and use the wide shoulder straps thru the common loops. Also, the shoulder straps are 2" wide and don't really run well thru the 1" common loop.
I also removed my shoulder straps from the guide lid and just use the bottom 1" straps when I want to carry it around like a day bag. Works perfect and no need to have the extra shoulder straps permanently attached. Less mess, less weight, and just not needed with my 1" bottom straps all ready to go if needed.
The way I have it set up works for a day trip. But I think I'll make a set of webbing straps for the top attachment point for the adjustability if I have to carry out a load in the load panel.
