Looking into a Kifaru pack, looking at some of the used bags on the classified here, but if I go new I am most interested in the Cavern and Reckoning.

Advantages of one over the other? Opinions on the packs from those that have one?

I have the Reckoning and can’t recommend it enough. The center zip makes for easy access and very easy packing. The two handles make loading it into the truck easy even when it’s packed heavy. The side pockets are awesome for quick access stuff and the lid/snow flap can expand the pack significantly if you add a lid.

It’s big enough for my upcoming 6 day backcountry spring bear hunt, without adding a lid. That wouldn’t be saying much except I’m packing regular mountain house (not the propacks), a CCF sleeping pad, and a USGI intermediate sleeping bag. In case you don’t have experience with that sleeping bag, it will only fit in the Kifaru large 5 string stuff sack - it’s huge.

You can’t go wrong.
