Kifaru belt pull issue

Just got back from a successful goat hunt. Coming off the mountain I could not get my belt to tighten using the pulls. Of course the pack was soaking wet and heavy so I'm sure that compounded the issue. Anyway, the belt pull twisted in the webbing and the strap would bunch up and not pull tight enough. I'd straighten it out and it would twist right back as soon as I pulled on the strap. This is on a DT frame and to my knowledge is the more recent updated belt. Anyone else have this problem, is there a solution? Am I doing something wrong?
 
I had the same issue as you about a month ago. I called Kifaru and they had their new and improved belt shipped out to me the next day. No twisting with the new system.

Also, when I talked to them they stated I was one of the first to receive the new belt. So if your belt is older than a month, I doubt you have the newest model. I'd Just give them a ring/email.

I will try to upload pics tonight so you can compare yours and see which one you have.

Thanks, pics would be really helpful. My belt is about 10 months old.

It is a common issue. For a very short while Kifaru built them with two common loops on power pull. It eliminated any twist and it was rock solid to tighten. Absolutely horrible idea when they stopped making them that way.

The belt on my bikini does this every time I put it on. Just figured it was a normal thing. I'd be interested in seeing this new belt photo.

I am on belt #2 and it does the same, dry or wet. First one was original with the Bikini release. Second one was from last year. Are you saying there in another improved one?

Anxious to see pics of old vs new. I received my pack less than a week ago, last Friday, September 16, so I'm hoping I've the new one, but comparing my belt to the belt pics on the Kifaru website, which I assume are of the old design, there is no difference that I can see.

Most of these problems stem from people having the wrong size belt. If your belt is too small you will have this problem. However, the problem does seem to show up if the belt isn't the perfect size (hence the need for the smedium and marge size belts). If this is indeed a redesign of the pull system for the future and not a one-off to fix the problem for you it looks like it would fix the problem and make the belt sizing less particular. This looks to be a better system and hopefully is on belts going forward.

To add-

When i talked to Kifaru a couple weeks ago they did say that their seamstresses did not like sewing the old design due to how challenging it was to get them sewn on tight. And if it was not done perfectly they are more apt to twist. I think this was the case with my original belt because I only had the twisting issue on one side.

Yeah, good point. I have had no problems with mine. I have had some issues having to lift the buckle to get it to tighten off and on as my weight has fluctuated. That is more the problem with the undersized belt, but this can lead to the twisting loops because you are pulling and the buckle isn't tightening.
 
As stated above, I took delivery of my pack 6 days ago, Friday, Sept 16. My belt has the old. That stinks.
 
Hey Guys,

We are currently in process of transitioning to an updated belt design. As you can see in MBrown's photo, a 2" ladder lock buckle has been added to the belt where the 2" Common Loop used to be. The 2" buckle is no longer an adjustable model and has been changed to a single bar model.

The updated design will resolve the twisting issue and the issues with the belt not properly tightening. We plan to have all Duplex belts sent out with the updated design very soon as we are awaiting more buckles and ladder locks from our distributor. We recently sent some orders out with the updated design but ran out of our limited stock very quickly. It was an informative post. Guys were wondering if their pack had the new design. Probably not, as mine is hot off the press.

"that stinks" offended you???? And it's "pissing and monaing"???? And because of such harsh and negative language the site has gone in the crapper???? Good gracious. We sure are touchy around here. Come on man, I meant no harm. All I meant was that I wish I had the new arrangement; which appears to be the same as Kuiu. I've the Kuiu too and I much prefer the Kuiu.

For the bikini frame users,can we still buy the belt via kifaru website and add a comment in the customer msg box and ask to make a new belt for bikini frame,we will have the new version?
