Katabatic vs nanatuk

Looking at my first quilt and have narrowed it down to these two. My biggest hang up is shoulder width and I'm hoping someone has used both and can offer some insight. The katabatic elite has a max shoulder width of 58" and the nunatuk I can get at 66"...thats pretty significant but it's relatively hard for me to decipher how much that matters since I've never slept with a quilt. I also read very consistently that the katabatic pad attachment system is superior to every other quilt and that this offsets a bit of the difference in width. However, I'm also reading this on BPL and when they describe their body types I'm generally seeing thinner body types. I'm 5'9" with broad shoulders and about 190 lbs (when my winter fat is on). I toss and turn a lot, mostly on my side and stomach and also like to have my knee up and off to the side when I lay on my stomach... And this is one of the primary reasons I want to try a quilt. My current semi rectangular bag is a FF penguin and sometimes I feel like it needs to be about 4 inches wider for me to get my knee off to the side.

Anyway... Any body that can weigh in and offer direct experiences would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I should add that I measure about 51" or 52" around the widest point of shoulders and arms.

Nowhere near good
I"m the same measurements, and have an EE quilt that is 58" wide. I can move side to side under it pretty comfortably, but I couldn't pull my knees up. And if on my stomach I couldn't it might not be enough since then I put my arms out more to the sides. But generally I find it to be quite roomy.

I would still go Nunatak...call Jan, he can probably help you decide on the measurements.

I am in the same sort of situation I have it narrowed with Nunatak, zpacks, and feathered friends. I’m concerned on the zpacks that the 35 inch footbox is to small but it being super lightweight is hard to pass up. The feathered friends ul wide flicker has 67 inch shoulder and a full zip but also the heaviest but by the time you get all the wide features on the Nunatak it weighs the same if not more.

Aside from being problematic with my sleep style, I've been super happy with my feathered friends penguin 30. Very well made bag. With the right layers I've taken it down to 0 degrees (outside of the tent Temps).

I sleep the same way constant tossing and turning on my side. My winter bag is a nemo sonic with the measurements being 69’63’59 and I love all the room I have to move around so I’m looking for a summer bag with as much room as possible as lightweight as possible. Im just hesitate with the feathered friends for the weight to sizing. Maybe I’m wrong though?

I don't like the word "ultralight". Feathered friends makes quality stuff. I'd rather pay a small weight penalty with something well made that does what it says it will do then buy ultralight stuff that doesn't last or do what it advertises.

It’s important to look at fill weights too when comparing weight, size and temp ratings.

I recently ordered a UGQ Bandit XL to get the 60” width. I’m a very active side sleeper and without the extra width I battled drafts a bunch.

The more I look into this the more I feel like the WM Terralite with overfill is a better option.

Know this is a bit old, but curious brocksw what you ended up with? I've got my first elk hunt this fall in late september and torn bt the katabatic/nunatak or the WM terralite. I'm a 6'3" 210 lb side sleeper so need as much room as possible. Thanks for any help!

I decided against a quilt. Trying a montbell 0 degree stretch down bag this year.

How’s that stretch bag they make? I was eyeing it but worried it was still constricting, I ended up ordering a Katabatic quilt.
