Anyone have experience in these? I cannot decide which to go with. The Elite is a little lighter and one of the reasons I’m going with a quilt is to save weight. The Flex may be more versatile though as this is for early season with temps that could stay quite warm. Opening up the foot box on the Flex may be nice.

I‘ve had the Elite Palisades For a few years now and love it. I haven’t had any direct experience with the Flex. I just preferred the design of the Elite series. I know the Flex series will create a foot box. But, I prefer the way it is fully integrated into the design of the Elite. In my mind, the Elite is the perfect quilt. It has the foot box of a sleeping bag. But, the ease of movement and weight of a quilt. After the Elite, I haven’t even considered another bag or quilt. It’s perfect IMO.

I have the flex 15 degree and elite 22 degree. Both in wide since I'm a side sleeper.

Both are very comfortable and warm, the main reason for the flex is to use as a blanket, which I only use when I bring my wife or daughter with camping or fishing. I find myself using the elite 22 wide for any of my hiking intense hunts when oz counting is a priority.

I am looking to get the Flex 22. I've never used a quilt before, only wide mummy bags. My concern is cold draft which is why I settled on Katabatic because everything I read is the attachment system solves that problem.

So, never having used a quilt here are my two concerns:

1. Cold drafts. I do use a good insulated sleeping pad.
2. The ease of use. It seems getting in and out of quilt may take more work or longer than a zipper mummy bag.

Your input is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

To be honest I have never needed the attach system that goes under the sleeping pad, the bag has straps that keep it together to prevent drafts. Maybe this is only duable with the wide, the normal width may be tougher to prevent drafts/get into
